CALLOU CHAISE
78 St James Street
ST JAMES, LONDON
78 St James’s Street is a Grade II* listed office building near Green Park, redeveloped by Squire & Partners for Bentall GreenOak. Richly decorated heritage interiors sit alongside contemporary workspaces, bringing together nearly two centuries of architectural history.
CURATORIAL APPROACH
The collection was conceived to complement the building’s historic finishes and murals while introducing a distinctly contemporary perspective. Across photography, sculpture and digital art, the works create a dialogue between the building’s past and its life as a modern workplace.
Ben Rousseau’s Caillou Chaise reimagines the throne through fluid lines and a bronze-toned finish, bringing a playful sculptural presence to its classical surroundings. In the Morning Room, Leila Jeffreys’ characterful parrot portraits offer a witty nod to the parliamentary portraits that once lined the former Conservative Club.
